I figured I’d wake up this morning to find lots of leftover clouds from last night’s storms, but that wasn’t the case. Seeing clearing over most of Southeastern Arizona, with cumulus starting to build east of Greenlee County in New Mexico. That’ll be the area to watch today, as storms will fire east of Tucson & progress westward. Depending on how worked over the atmosphere is (and I don’t think it really is), we could be talking about a late start to scattered thunderstorms today.

Here’s what the University of Arizona model has painted for dinnertime this evening, as strong (perhaps even severe) storms enter Eastern Pima County & portions of Cochise County. As has been the case this week, the main severe weather threat today will be flash flooding. Lots of washes/streams across Southern Arizona have seen a good amount of rain this week, so it won’t take much rainfall to cause flooding problems.
