Wednesday Weather Updates
Wednesday, July 28th, 20105:50 PM – Tracking a few lines of mainly garden-variety thunderstorms…one over Central Pima County and another east of Vail, Patagonia & Nogales. Movement is to the west-northwest around 10-15 mph, with at most a half-inch of rain from these storms through 7 pm. As a reminder, a Small Stream Flood Advisory continues for Central Pima & Pinal Counties until 7:15 pm.
That’ll wrap up my blogging for the day…KVOA duties tomorrow, so I’ll try to get back on here. Good night!
4:25 PM – Not as much activity today compared to Tuesday, but storms continue to produce locally heavy rain. A Small Stream Flood Advisory has been issued for Central Pima and Pinal Counties until 7:15 pm. This includes Sells, Marana & Casa Grande.
A broken line of thunderstorms stretching from Oracle to north of Three Points is capable of rainfall up to 1″, causing washes to flow. So far, the most rain I’ve seen from these storms is 0.59″ at the Oracle Ranger Station. This activity is moving northwest at 10 mph, so be ready for a wet drive along I-10.
Other storms are trying to get going across Santa Cruz & Western Cochise County & are also lifting slowly northwest. Benson, Saint David, Sonoita & Tombstone will see this activity over the next hour.
2:10 PM – Radar starting to light up in Eastern Pima County, as scattered storms have broke out. Heavy rainfall up to 1″ can be expected from the storms near Rita Ranch & by I-10/Cienega Creek. This is all moving west-northwest at 10 mph, so expect storms in Tucson over the next hour.
