Hey, haven’t we seen this set-up before? Starting to see some clearing skies across Pima & Santa Cruz Counties. Because of this, I think this will be the favorable area for scattered storms to develop today. Clouds over Cochise County this morning will hinder storm development.

Heavy rainfall will once again be the big threat. The yellow numbers above is the dew point temperature at 9 am. Anytime you get that dew point well into the 60’s, you’re talking about a soupy atmosphere capable of dumping at least an inch of rain in some areas. The big concern will be the water-logged Green Valley/Sahuarita area, which saw up to 2″ rain yesterday (Tuesday’s rain totals here). More heavy rain there today could make for big problems.

A rare funnel cloud sighting occured in Sonoita yesterday…click here to see images from the National Weather Service Tucson. This was not a tornado. By definition, a tornado occurs when that funnel cloud reaches the ground. In case you were wondering, Arizona does average 4 tornadoes a year.

I added a new poll to the site, asking about your feelings on this summer’s Monsoon…love to see your responses, so don’t be shy! Back later today with updates…Live Tucson Radar up and running here.
