Tuesday Weather Update
Tuesday, July 27th, 20103:15 PM – The Flash Flood Warning for East Central Pima County has been extended until 6 pm. The above image is radar estimated rainfall, with areas west of Sahuarita seeing up to 3″ rain and Green Valley near the Santa Cruz River seeing 2″ rain. These radar estimates fall in line with what rain gauges have been reporting, as Continental Road at the Santa Cruz in Green Valley has picked up 2.01″ rain in the last hour. Washes are running & streets around Green Valley/Sahuarita are potentially flooded.
2:25 PM – A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for East Central Pima County until 4 pm, including Green Valley, Sahuarita & Corona de Tucson. This storm is capable of heavy rainfall in excess of 2″, causing flooding of area washes & streams. Radar is estimating almost 3″ rain has fallen in the last hour around Sahuarita & San Xavier Mission. Movement of this storm is to the west-northwest at 15 mph, with an ETA of 3:15 pm into Three Points & Tucson Estates.
1:15 PM – Storms continue to break out, especially southeast of Tucson. Locally heavy rain is possible for Sonoita, Vail & Corona de Tucson over the next hour as this cluster of storms lifts northwest at 10 mph. Washes & streams will be flowing, so travel cautiously if you’re heading out in this area. Green Valley & Sahuarita should keep an eye to the sky too, as this cluster may make it to you by 3 pm.
