Slow-Moving Heavy Rainers Today
Tuesday, July 27th, 2010It’s amazing what a little sunshine can do to a soupy atmosphere, as you can see some blooming cumulus on the Catalinas courtesy of the UA Webcam. This sun looks to do wonders for storm development today, as we’ll be much more active than yesterday’s Monsoon dud. Perhaps getting my car washed yesterday was a good idea…
Here’s radar at 11:30 am, as scattered storms are breaking out all over the place. Heaviest activity right now is located over Redington Pass & south of Benson. More storms are starting to get organized in Sonora, Mexico as well. Look for these storms to move northwest during the afternoon/early evening hours.
With a souped-up atmosphere (dew points well into the 60’s) and storms slowly drifting northwest, heavy rainfall is possible today. This morning, Dove Mountain in Marana saw 0.75″ rain…in a half hour. I wouldn’t be surprised to see several places across Southern Arizona pick up an inch of rain, with perhaps isolated areas in the mountains seeing up to 2″.
Updates as needed on the site today…Live Tucson Radar is up & running for you to track the storms.
