As promised by yours truly this morning on News 4’s Tucson Today, we’ve seen clouds on the increase this afternoon. This is all ahead of a Pacific storm, currently soaking NorCal & the Pacific Northwest. Care to guess where this is all headed?

Winds pick up Saturday afternoon, with scattered showers & storms (yes, storms) during [...]

Another Weekend…Another Storm

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Our wet winter looks to continue this weekend. See that u-shape over California/Arizona in the above image? That’s a mid-level trough that will swing through us Saturday night & Sunday. This looks to be another cold system, similar to the one we saw a few days ago.
It should be breezy Saturday and Sunday & I wouldn’t rule [...]

US, Eh? Americans Conquer Canada

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

30 years ago today, a group of college kids playing for Team USA pulled off the biggest upsets in sports history, defeating the Soviet Union 4-3. Since that victory, its been hard to pinpoint a significant US men’s hockey win. That changed last night, as the US beat Canada 5-3. At their own game. On [...]

A Change Is Afoot

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

We’ve been absolutely spoiled this week, with fantastic weather for the Match Play Championship. That’s thanks in part to high pressure over the West Coast. All good things must come to an end, however, as I’m tracking a storm system in the Eastern Pacific.
A piece of the low you see will break off and head [...]

Day 1 Of Olympic Hockey: The View From My Living Room

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

As you can imagine, the Beamish household yesterday was in full hockey mode with the start of the men’s Olympic hockey tournament. I blew up my Twitter account with random hockey posts all day. Here’s the long version of my thoughts on a very non-competitive day of hockey in Vancouver.

USA: 3 Switzerland: 1
My Twitter prediction on this game was [...]

Several training sessions for skiiers have been postponed due to rainfall & warm [...]
