Pretty viewer photo from Mt. Lemmon Friday morning…sounds like 24″ of snow fell from the Thursday/Friday storm. Now, we’re prepping for valley snow during the overnight hours into Saturday morning.

Growing up in Minnesota, I’ve been through it all…the Halloween Blizzard of ‘91, the St. Peter Tornado Outbreak of ‘98, numerous nights of 90mph+ straight line winds, etc. What Southern Arizona experienced Thursday without a doubt ranks up there as one of the worst storms I have seen in my lifetime.

Round #1 is complete & here’s the scene this afternoon from Summerhaven. Mt. Lemmon received 9″ of snow overnight, along with gusty winds on the mountains & in the valleys. Rain/snow totals from this latest storm look this way…

A Blizzard Watch is now posted above 7000 feet from Thursday morning until Friday morning, as round #2 moves into Southern Arizona. Damaging winds, white-out conditions & 1-2 feet of snow are possible for the mountains during this time frame.

How about this…the red boxes indicating Tornado Warnings for Los Angeles & Orange Counties this afternoon! See the hook-shaped radar signature just west of Santa Ana? That’s where the potential for a tornado exists. Around 1 PM Pacific time, a waterspout was sighted just off the coast near Seal Beach in Orange County.
