Good afternoon on this bright, chilly day. Tucson dropped to 35 overnight, but a few record lows were set…here they are:
Nogales: 22
Douglas: 25
Tombstone: 29
Safford: 24
Tonight is setting up to be even colder than last night. Again, a Freeze Warning is out for the areas shaded in blue from 1 am – 9 am Friday. Again, [...]

After a strong cold front pushed though during the overnight hours (I even got a little rain around midnight in the Foothills), clearing skies and falling temps have prevailed. The areas shaded in blue are Freeze Warnings out from 1 am til 9 am Thursday morning. Remember the three P’s before you go to bed [...]

Who’s ready for a taste of Winter? Like it or now, it’s coming this week. See that U-shaped cloud mass south of Alaska? That’s a unseasonably cold storm system getting its act together & moving towards Arizona.
Starting Tuesday, we’ll see winds gusting up to 40 mph in some places. By Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, showers [...]

For my sanity, I won’t mention how the refs basically decided the outcome of the Vikings/Steelers game. Rather, I want to point out that Adrian Peterson is a man among boys. I think bells are ringing in William Gay’s head right about now…get off the train tracks William!

Hey folks…sorry for the lack of posts the last few days as I’ve been a little caught up in some personal business. I’m starting a new category on this site called “Jeff Jabs…”, where I take a shot at something crazy in the news. Who better to debut “Jeff Jabs…” like our favorite storm chasing, [...]

Welcome to what will be the coolest night we’ve seen this Fall! Clear skies & light winds over Southeastern Arizona tonight makes for the perfect set-up to have some chilly readings. Expect mostly 30s into Cochise County with 40s everywhere else. Coolest readings in Tucson tonight will be the East Side, Avra Valley & in [...]

As I anticipated, things are really starting to quiet down across Graham, Greenlee & Cochise Counties. The Severe Thunderstorm Watch, which was in effect for these counties until 5 pm, has been allowed to expire early. Still a couple weakening storms in Northwest Cochise County & northeast of Douglas as of 4:15 pm, all of [...]

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Southeastern Cochise County until 2:45 this afternoon. The storm responsible for this warning is just east of Douglas and is moving northeast at 45 mph towards state highway 80. Expect quarter-size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph with this storm.
The rest of the radar [...]

Fall’s coming in with quite the kick…a Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Cochise, Graham & Greenlee Counties until 5 pm today. A “watch” means that thunderstorms developing in these counties have the potential for damaging winds & large hail for a certain time frame. Remember, a “warning” is when a storm is producing [...]

Mother Nature must be confused. Not only did I wake up to a rumble of thunder around midnight, the temperature at 2:30am was 79! This is all thanks to a sneaky mid-level disturbance pushing through the state today, which is touching off a few storms east of Tucson. I expect storms to remain in Cochise, [...]
